The practice started its humble beginnings in 1968, under the name of Haldyn Clamp & Partners. At that time, contact lenses were a somewhat rare product, offered and fitted only by specialists and the practice has been synonymous with the latest innovations in contact lens fitting ever since.

Richard Stokes took over the practice in the late Eighties, and the business was known as Richard Stokes Optometrists / St Albans Contact Lens Centre, still continuing to specialise in contact lenses as well as expanding the range of services to include a wide range of spectacles.

In 2018, the practice entered its next phase of development. With Richard's retirement, Justin Hardy has taken on the commitment to continue to grow the practice. His passion for personalised service and a commitment to always provide the highest quality frames, spectacle lenses and contact lenses, together with his vast experience in contact lens fitting and utilising the latest technologies in the examination room, means that the practice can now offer patients even more services to meet all their eye care needs.
